When they fought for the union they forever revoked their southern card. They refused to fight the Confederacy even on Lincoln's orders. The maintained neutrality because they were smack dab in the middle of the war. They wanted peace. The only reason they entered the war was because the Confederacy invaded their state lines. You act like they turned their back on the South when that couldn't be further from the truth.
