For the others, I can say how the battles work, though. You have the enemy team that starts wherever they start. For you team, they have a certain amount of spaces for you to start on, and a certain amount of characters you can bring in battle. Before battle, you can switch which space they all start on (usually). After the battle starts, whoever's turn it is moves all their characters. If they land next to you character (or a certain number of spaces away depending on the weapon), they enter a battle. And then they fight using the equipped weapon and stuff. It's a little more complicated than that because you have special weapons skills, speed, and stuff.
