X-trinsic En Sabah Nur, unwilling to place all of his hopes for mutantkind on the machinations of the rest of Krakoa's leadership, covertly assembles a so-called Black Ops team tasked with responding to threats unforeseen by their newfound method of foresight and that may require solutions hinging on fuzzier ideas of morality than those that a nation seeking recognition as a legitimate society should visibly undertake. Namor the Sub-Mariner, angry and distrustful toward Charles Xavier after the recent revelations of what the latter did to his mind, agrees to head the team for the good of mutants. Also selected is Victor Creed, secretly freed by Apocalypse from his recent punishment but threatened with even harsher consequences should he go rogue again.
Other members are recruited for a variety of reasons. Some look to escape the troubles of their past. Some merely have useful skills. Some simply regard it as a necessary evil. The one thing they all share is that, despite Krakoa's promises of complete harmony among mutants, they still don't quite belong in this new society. They are X-trinsic.
