To the extent that you hear more about reparations in the context of the US, a few explanations seem likely
1) you are an American and largely surrounded by American voices, as opposed to those whose ancestors were victims of European powers 2) The US has a much larger black population than any European country; the examples I linked above come from Caribbean nations, rather than those living in Europe who have a democratic say in how it operates.
Now imagine if the Asian and South American countries they subjugated wanted reparations. ---
