There's plenty of documentation globally that M2F way outpaces F2M. For example:
https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fendo.2014.00087/full
Our MTF/FTM sex ratio of 2.7:1 is similar to the ratio of 3:1 reported in our previous study (8) and the sex ratio reported in Western Europe (10, 11). It is in line international data ranging from 3 to 5:1
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28224311
making the MtF/FtM ratio approximately 2.2:1
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4823815/
the resulting prevalence was estimated at 1/100,000 for MTF and 0.25/100,000 for FTM

As for WHY, I have no hard evidence to back up this theory but it probably has something to do with how gay men versus lesbians are perceived societally. It's possible that what you're seeing is a byproduct of people exploring their sexuality and finding it easier to think they're a straight woman in a man's body than a gay man. It could also be due to the fact that men are so traditionally starved of emotional affection that the feeling (or thought) of being treated like and being able to freely express emotion like a woman just feels really good and thus "right" which, combined with trying to figure out their sexuality leads to that conclusion. It may also be why the vast majority (60-80%) of trans people "grow out of it" and just become "regular" gay people (https://www.transgendertrend.com/children-change-minds/).
