Like as if in 20+ years if you want to play that game you aren't;
- Buying a digital copy so you can play it in a more convenient fashion on your modern aming device because it doesn't read Blu-rays and your TV isn't designed for old consoles anymore and the PSN/Live servers are shut down
- Playing the game on PC

You need to be a pretty committed to play retro games in a good or authentic standard. Are you like that now? If not why would you be when you're a middle aged old man? It will probably be a shitty experience for the online consoles too because eventually they won't have their services online anymore. So it's not even comparable to the offline consoles of the past.

Lets be real. Unless you haven't moved on from a 3DS or Wii U those games you're buying this year probably won't be the copies you'll play long in the future. Your best chance are probably digital copies on PC. Especially GOG.
