When people pick the animals in these scenarios I say cool. So long as you acknowledge the narrow mindedness/selfishness of your decisions you're free to do as you like. I'd be a hypocrite to say you shouldn't do things that benefit only yourself. We all make decisions that best suit ourselves and our needs/desires all the time.

Id find it especially stupid if you try to justify things by saying your pets worth is equivalent to the worth of a humans if you consume any kind of meat or animal byproducts.

There's a difference between how we appraise groups as a whole and how we appraise individual members of those groups.
