Bernie is a socialist, but people shouldn't fear that. Thanks to balance of powers he isn't going to be able to turn America into a socialist nation by himself. He is also the least corrupt major candidate by far.
He also isn't going to be able to spend money freely. "All student loans forgiven" will turn into All student loan interest forgiven at best. But he may actually be able to make some changes regarding how expensive college is.
