FFXIV's reboot had to make it work with substantially less funding for polish than a normal Squeenix work since, well, the project had already blown up once. You'll see more polish as you progress since the ongoing success will have given it a bigger and bigger budget. Don't get attached to the VA crew in ARR content -- in Heavensward they overhaul almost (if not all) the characters' voices. It's a crapshoot as to how well this works. Haha, I've been warned about the VA changes. Honestly I can see where a few improvements could be made in that regard.
