So, I like this game, but I want to like it more than I do. I hate to sound petty but there are a lot of design choices that synergize negatively together to create a bunch of tiny issues that add up. They're present in a lot of older games of this type but that's not an excuse - they should have solved these by now.

-As I mentioned before, you get a ton of equipment and 95% of it is worthless. There's not a quick and dirty way to got through all of it either, because the 5% of cool weapon you get is placed right in the middle of the rest of the crap and it would be easy to accidentally sell/scrap it if turn off your brain when sell/scrapping all the others. This is unavoidable, because...

-Aside from ensuring you don't do away with those few special items, you can't just ignore the equipment (and for that matter, consumables) that you will never use, because selling them is a steady source of income. Your steadiest, actually. And repairing weapons/armor takes a surprising amount of parts, so you'll need to pay attention to scrapping enough of them to keep your favored items in good condition. And since it's a good idea to pick up everything you can...

-You have to keep an eye on your inventory weight limit, which is simply not fun to do. Makes going on a scrapping/selling spree even more of a chore than it already is, because instead of doing it at your leisure you're forced to do it at irregular times. It's also very easy to reach that inventory limit, unless...

-You invest a perk in inventory max+. Perks like this simply should not exist. You know what's a fun perk? Extra headshot damage, or being able to heal your allies, or any other sort of fun combat synergy. Stuff like inventory max+, and the increased movement speed, and the ability to see highlighted objects from farther away? That should all be baked into the base game naturally. Instead of being able to use your perks on interesting stuff, you're forced to use them on a bunch of 'make the game actually fun' options. I mean, you're not FORCED, but it would feel awful not to have them.

-I don't have a lead-in to this one, but put simply, the weapon mods system sucks. Mods you can't remove makes using them feel awful. It incentives you not to either not upgrade your weapons/armor when something better comes along, because you might not have an extra version of your favorite mod, or just...hoard the mods forever. Not fun.

There's a couple other things, but I've ranted for long enough. All together it makes the core gameplay loop much less fun than it should be. The writing is good, the world is good, the combat is good...but I find myself not enjoying going around and shooting/exploring/looting nearly as much as I want to. I had a LOT more fun doing it in Fallout 4 (mostly because I modded the game not to have any of these problems).

Black Turtle did a pretty good job.
