Yeah, they also enforce the status quo for the corporations that own the politicians that make the laws. If your landlord doesn't do proper upkeep on your property and you call the cops, nothing will happen. If you refuse to pay rent because of this, the cops will come and evict you for the landlord. If a corporation wants to run an oil pipeline through your land that will probably poison your water you can't stop them and neither will the cops, but of you protest the cops will sure as shit come and shoot you with rubber bullets, teargas you, and spray you down with firehouses in subzero temperatures. The criminal justice system is purposely set to protect the people at the top and their interests. Remember that the supreme court has decided that the cops are under no obligation to protect any individual.
How is this keeping them from throwing stabbin' Mike in jail after he murders another 7 people. Or would you rather he stay on the streets and murder 8? ---
