I have nothing against gender reveal parties, but I don't know why people go to such great lengths to make it into some sort of spectacle. What's wrong with having someone contact a bakery and have them bake a cake either pink or blue and reveal it when you cut it open? Why are these people playing with explosives? If they feel that strongly about setting off a bomb to make their announcement, spend money to hire a professional pyrotechnics service. As to the cost, most of the time the party is thrown as a gift to the expecting couple.
