Its a literal paint by the numbers movie that plays it safe and doesnt do anything innovative lmao its literally meant to be be mindlessly enjoyed and not challenge that viewer
It doesn't really play things safe. If it had a happy ending that would've been playing it safe. Instead Emma Stone's character achieves her dream at the cost of possibly having a happy romance with Ryan Gosling. That whole sequence where they showed the life that the two of them could've had together was so good and sad. It challenges the viewer to wonder about what they'd be willing to give up to achieve their own dreams. It doesn't matter that its oscar bait. It a cool movie with a great soundtrack and good acting

Thats literally by the numbers bro - it doesnt innovate it doesnt change anything, it does have a great soundtrack etc but that doesnt mean its safe from being judged as oscar bait because thats exactly what its supposed to do - appeal to a wide audience - its low bro in every aspect.

Edit - note I never said the movie was bad, its just literally exactly achieving the same end game marvel movies do, appeal to a wide audience
