I know what that's like. Back when I was a teenager about 20 years ago, my mother decided to get a kitten from a family friend and one of them took a liking to me when we met them so we adopted her but at the same time I was like "why not also get a male cat? We've never had male cats..." so we also got one of her brothers by default and my mother's friend was like "be sure to care for him too" like she wasn't confident that we were making the right choice and was maybe worried that he would be neglected as his sister was the "chosen cat" but that first day we had them both, I was watching them while my mother was out and I didn't really know what I was doing and he looked up at me and meowed like he wanted to be picked up and I hadn't really picked up cats that much, but I did and from that moment on, we had a special bond. His sister actually got out a few years later and got into a scuffle with a neighborhood cat. She was declawed so she couldn't properly defend herself... He was meowing at my bedroom door when I was the only one awake, like he knew that I was the only human who could help and sure enough I went downstairs and opened the door and she came rushing in like a demon was chasing her. They're both gone now and I wasn't able to be there at the end, but they had good lives and I had my chance to enjoy their company while they were at the end when I visited, so I'm happy for that.
That is an amazing story. And I hate to use this cliche but so much one of those happy cause it happened not sad cause theyre lost now deals. I cant remember the exact cliche but its appropriate.
Ive never had a male cat before now and my friend who breeds them told me the males are much more friendly and affectionate and whatnot and it definitely seems true. ---
