Even in the age of Trump, there are still a few even less trustworthy governments in this world than that of the US, and while the Chinese government is not quite at the head of the list (that's probably North Korea), that isn't for lack of trying, and they're certainly on the short-short list nearest the top. Is the CIA meddling in Hong Kong, as they are known to have meddled in foreign governments decades ago? I actually don't think so.
