i think it's misunderstood and misused a lot. i think it is racist when it is used to imply or suggest that all white people have it better in life than all nonwhite people by default regardless of any other circumstances. in our society, do white people tend to have a leg up with some things? yeah, there's no question about that. but i think people sometimes forget that demographically speaking a white person, just like anyone, can be many different things and fit into multiple socioeconomic categories, not all of which have much privilege of their own, or are very conducive to capitalizing on the privileges of being white, or may even be underprivileged.

in short, a lot of white people have it tough too. sure it may not be as systemic or systematic as it is with nonwhites, but just don't go trying to assert that i have it made simply because i'm white. it's just not true.


But people aren't saying there aren't white people that have it rough. Just that, at the very least, their whiteness will never be a barrier or an obstacle to their success.
