| Topic | Can anyone bullet point the China/Hong Kong thing that keeps popping up recently |
| Damn_Underscore 10/12/19 2:00:45 PM #21: | It starts with the UK's lease of Hong Kong ending in 1997 and they basically had no other choice than to give HK back to China. China agreed to have a "one country two systems" policy for 50 years (until 2047) where Hong Kong was still part of China but basically got to govern itself. But recently China has seriously been encroaching on that. I think in the most recent election the candidates were all sympathetic to the mainland, and that isn't a coincidence. So people started to protest and here we are.
