Today was my last day at work. And per California law, since I gave them over 72 hours notice they are required to have my last pay check ready on my last day, along with any pay out for unused PTO. For every day they are late, the employer is required to pay a days worth of wages, up to 30 days. So say you make $100 a day and they are 10 days late, they would owe you $1000.

I didnt receive my last paycheck today. However I did see my statement appear online. There is an extra line where they account for 4 days proactively. And because its a penalty, its not taxed.

Basically Im getting nearly a gross weeks pay for freeeeee.
