The U.S. isn't giving up any of its 50 states or colonies and make them 100% independent. Should China do that with Hong Kong? If so why? Actually the US gave up the Philippines, and also recently allowed Puerto Rico to vote on if it wanted independence (it voted for statehood instead, but that hasn't happened yet). But it's always the same whataboutism with you.
