It seems more like the owner doesn't want to get into politics, which makes sense since this is about basketball, not politics. Sinophobic much? He got in trouble with the owner because of the backlash he got from Chinese fans. The backlash is due to two reasons. First, a lot of these look like Chinese bots. They barely have any posts or followers. Second, the media over there is completely controlled by the government.
