In the US and other countries with freedom of the press you can choose from any number of biased sources, biased in any number of directions, or sources that are fairly balanced. So it's really kind of your own fault if you decide to only consume media saying a certain thing. There is no shortage of English language media biased toward Russia (RT is literally state propaganda) or China (ChinaDaily, yet again state propaganda) and you can access them. In China your literally can't access any major Chinese language (or even much English language) media that isn't state propaganda. Even Wikipedia is banned (you can still go to GameFAQs though). This idea of trying to make a false equivalence is pretty laughable, the US, and Japan have their own problems. But I would never want to live in China (and my girlfriend never wants to return there). It's 100% a police state bordering on fascism. It's fun to visit, but it's not comparable to the life of relative freedom I enjoy in Japan. Just look at what is happening in Hong Kong.


it's not just some "false equivalence"

you have to go out of your way to find those sources, and this assumes you're even aware of them and how grossly biased the media is to begin with

but i don't think anybody is gonna try to argue that americans (you know, those same people who voted in trump?) aren't largely ignorant/stupid, so w/e
