Anytime a story comes up like this I slowly realize my school wasnt as bad as it couldve been. In those situations our cafeteria workers would let you keep the main entree. You just couldnt get like extra items or something (like an ice cream cup or a specialty a la carte item)

this was pretty much standard thing. in 2004 about 4-5 students had name on a whiteboard telling them to "pay off fines/overdue library books etc" if they wanted to graduate. they had a few days to pay it off.
