Topic	Nine year old student's hot lunch taken away because of $9.75 lunch debt

Perhaps I just dont understand the American school system, but can people not just pack their kids a lunch instead. Seems like if you cant afford school provided lunches you should probably do that. What, ask some parents to take responsibility for their children? What is this If they can't afford the (presumably) reduced weekly/monthly cost of school lunch, what makes you think they can afford coldcuts and bread for the week?
