so i took my cousins daughter to see a musical last night, she's about 15
we were driving through the real hipster part of town and she was talking about how much she loves it there but she's only been there once, walking around with her aunt (who is my age and a fox), and this drug dealer dude kept following them around asking the aunt to buy from him and also to come hang out at his place, it went on for a while and it made her super uncomfortable
then later on somehow the topic of male privilege came up and she was like "i don't know if that's really a thing though" and I said to her, "you know that story you mentioned a minute ago about how a creep followed you and your aunt around harassing you? I lived on hipsterstreet for 2 years and walked around it a thousand times and that never happened to me once, but it happened to you the one time you went there."
she said "oh wow.... i never thought of it like that... that's really messed up we had to put up with that but you don't..."

When I lived in Toronto I was constantly approached by homeless people, religious nutjobs, "environmentalist petitioners" and all manner of shady drug dealers trying to sell me drugs/phones/whatever. I am a white male.
