I'm going to PM you something in a bit, but personally speaking: I've created many a file with macros without any formal training, some of them are kind of complicated but anything I've done has just been with:

(1) Using the "Record macro" option to create a skeleton and then building on/cleaning it up (since recording the macro doesn't always give the cleanest details)

but the main thing is...

(2) Googling. Pretty much anytime I needed to do something, even if "record macro" gave an option, just googling what I want to do with "excel macro" throw in would return an instance of someone else who was seeking how to do it, and the answer for how they did it.

Maybe some formal training would've made things easier or been more efficient but google's worked out really well so far!
