Its just adding more steps & more perpetrators to the conspiracy, more chances for things to go wrong during the operation or for leaks afterwards.
I can guarantee none of the mainstream media will do any investigation on this if history is to go by. About 10 years ago, CNBC reported a $43 Trillion lawsuit against the banks who got bailed out after the recession. The next day, CNBC's executive's children were suspiciously murdered by the nanny, and the nanny committed suicide by "slit to the throat". You don't ever hear of someone committing suicide that way. In any case, the original article on the lawsuit was taken down though there are screenshots of the article readily available.
I'm recounting this story to say that there's precedent in mainstream news outlets silencing a story or not pursuing a big name story any further. There's a lot at stake for them; their lives.
