Spitting is a shit thing to do, but punishments should fit the crime. You can die from taking hits like that. Or be injured or permanently disabled. That is even way totally less cool than spitting which is already very uncool. If he didn't want to get injured from a beating he should have thought twice before being a coward and spitting through closing doors.
