I'll concede she wasn't the best version of the character, but it's better than having an original character with the same initials blocking her from appearing.

And Marvel hates Mary Jane Watson. They hate her status as a damsel in distress. They hate her status as a sex symbol. And they're probably still embarrassed over that figurine from years ago. And rather than fix any problems with the character, they're content to try and sweep her under the rug and act like she never existed.

But if you brought back Tobey Maguire, you'd pretty much have to bring back Kirsten Dunst. That brings back Mary Jane Watson. That gets people thinking about her. And the movie will clear up any problems it can. She'll be an older, more mature character. And she'll undoubtedly be more willing and able to stick up for herself.

To me it's worth it. It's not about a reunion or a sequel. It's about sustaining a character's legacy.

You know Marvel is hyping a Mary Jane comic right now? I don't think they hate her. They just hate the idea of marrying off Peter to her or anyone.

As for the movie honestly while I want a real Mary Jane (Spectacular Spider-Man will always have the best animated version) I like Michelle as a character. I won't call her MJ I refuse to but as an original character shes better then any other romance in a live action Spider-Man movie. Peter has had many girlfriends before Mary Jane she's just who he should end up with.

There is nothing stopping them from introducing Mary Jane later.
