That's different, though. That's also a necessary "function" because otherwise a child's going to hole themself up in their room out of fear if it's just acting like a robot. A child being able to connect with a robot and an adult being able to are very different aims/priorities. As for the "why make the sex robots so lifelike," well... I'd think that should be pretty obvious. People will pay more to have sex if it seems closer to the real thing than a super obvious "I'm fucking a computer." Like, you brought up sex dolls. Sex dolls are a thing because there's more of a market for them than just sticking it in a cube with a hole.
