My mom called this the "Sheldon cooper problem" after the big bang theory character. It starts with an innocuous thing (if a rudely phrased one). Don't sit in his spot. It isn't that important and it's easier to give in than to fight. Then the next demand comes along and it's again easier to not fight it. And another, and another. BBT is exaggerated for comedic effect, but it was easy to see a pattern of enabling a spoiled overaged child that kept pushing those boundaries leading him to essentially control the lives of those around him. Without a laugh track it's the recipe for an abusive relationship. We aren't there yet, but I'm hardly going to keep quiet until we hit an Orwell level issue. As is, I'm definitely going to call out what seems at best a stupid waste of energy, and at worst, another exercise in seeing if you can get people to jump through crazier and crazier hoops. --- ...
