ROCHESTER, N.Y. Sheriff's deputies are searching for the person who threw a kitten from a moving car in upstate New York on Saturday night.
Genesee County sheriff's deputies said the 8-week-old kitten was reportedly thrown out of the window of a red car moving down State Route 98 at around 9 p.m. Saturday in Batavia, a city 40 minutes southwest of Rochester.
The kitten, a female domestic short hair brown tiger, suffered severe injuries including severe head trauma and chest contusions and two broken legs, which were not operable, said Ann Marie Brade, a dog control officer for the sheriff's office.
"Combined with the head and chest trauma, the veterinarian made the decision to euthanize" the kitten, Brade said.
Deputies were still seeking anyone with information about the incident or the car involved.
