As far as I can tell, the US mens and womens team draw similar numbers in terms of world cup matches. Perhaps the women get more viewers because theyre actually one of the best teams out there, the men are "above average/pretty good" most of the time.

But outside of the world cup nobody cares about the women's team. The men draw higher rankings in random friendly matches and stuff like the Gold Cup, too, I assume.

Thats just with US audiences, and my own assumptions. As far as overall, the mens world cup, worldwide, i assume, draws in tens of millions more in terms of views. not just because its a longer tournament, plenty more people care.

But the pay scale should be based off of TV ratings and not skill. You could be terrible but if millions watch you, you'd be entitled to a slice of the pie.
