Anal can be intimidating if you've never done it before, or recently had a negative experience. But like a lot of stuff, patience, preparation, and relaxation can go a long ways towards making a scary, sometimes even painful experience quite enjoyable. Sometimes that involves toys and a good amount of foreplay. It will almost always require a lot of personal lubricant (make sure it's water-based, other kinds don't always play well with condoms). Sometimes, despite all of the above, some people simply don't enjoy anal penetration. There's nothing wrong with this. Please like what they like and this is simply not for them.

Keep an open mind, but be honest about how you feel. If it's not working, say so. If you take nothing else from this: don't try and force things, because that's how you hurt yourself.

And if the top is trying to pressure you into anal sex over your objections, then for the love of God don't fuck him. You can absolutely do better.
