If you failed at life, or got unlucky, or are a lazy shit then communism and socialism appeal to you.

I wouldn't consider myself a socialist, but it's pretty clear that for all our economic strength, that power is being consolidated among fewer and fewer people. Also economic outcomes, particularly within the middle class, are getting worse and worse. That inequality only makes sense given current economic incentives. Those incentives need to change. Those levels of economic injustice aren't just a moral wrong it's a growing source of tension within the cohesiveness of a nation, and that tension is often relieved through reckless reactionary and populist political movements.
