What I will say is that I've never seen a doctor or nurse ever tell a patient they can just "walk outside" while being admitted and wearing hospital regalia. Like, I've never ever seen a nurse or doctor say that to a patient unless the patient was being released.

Even my mom, who desperately wanted a cigarette after she was admitted, was told by her doctor that if she left she could not come back inside and would have to go through the entire admittance process again.


It depends. Over here unless the doctor explicitly states you can't leave the interior of the hospital you're free to roam the exterior.

I wonder if the doctors meant he could walk around the floor and his room, because I know you're pretty much allowed to do that so long as you're not supposed to be bedridden. I'd argue it's the staff's fault for not making things clear.
