Topic	Pokemon seems to be at a critical but unfortunate crossroads.

No, Masuda has said omitting pokemon is a design choice and that each game going forward will be made with that idea. There are no plans to patch them in. Probably for awhile, but I honestly cannot believe they would say "Screw it" to the business of competitive Pokemon gameplay. His entire "reason" for this is competitive balance.
