Cross is one of the most creative RPGs I've ever played, for one. In what other RPG do you get turned into an actual literal cat? Or walk through an M.C. Esther painting? Or fight an ancient fort's guardian who is a centaur who fucking choke slams you? The list goes on and on because it's just so damn creative.
One of my favorite moments in the game is when, if you choose to kill the Hydra in the Hydra Marsh, the dwarves, who are now homeless, come to believe that might makes right and practically commit genocide against the faries because they need a new home specifically because of your actions, which weren't even necessary to begin with. It's a great way to explain how imperialism radicalizes people who would not otherwise be terrorists.
Another is when, after you get turned into Lynx and return to Arni Village, pretty much everyone in the village, including your best friend, all turn on you and hate you not because of Lynx's actions but entirely because they're racist against demi-humans. It's such a good fucking moment and Cross is full of them. I like Cross more than Trigger for different reasons than I like Trigger. ---
