Being born into a situation that you find pride in, that's my point.

It's okay to feel pride in something you helped create, but come on, we both know that's not what's going on here. People who take pride in their country do so because they share the same mentality as this guy who takes pride in being straight - they had nothing to do with it, but have the privilege of being lucky.

People who feel pride in their country are prideful of its traditions, culture and what their ancestors helped create. It's okay to feel grateful for not having been born in a place that's worse off, but to celebrate that would be a little douchey and shallow. It's the same for straight pride. It's okay to be grateful for being straight, but being prideful, celebrating the matter, or bring attention to it is pointless and weird. There isn't a whole lot to celebrate except for the fact that you didn't get the short end of the stick.
