It's hypocrisy to show pride in who you are but look down upon someone showing pride in who they are. Couldn't the same be said of those who love their country? I mean, you were born there - you didn't have to do anything but continue to live, so where does the "pride" come from? Not trolling here, just noticing how it's okay for someone to say they're proud to be an American, Canadian, etc. and nobody seems to care. not the same. a country had to be built and maintained. your gender and sexuality do not. ...not what I was getting at. Being born into a situation that you find pride in, that's my point. It's okay to feel pride in something you helped create, but come on, we both know that's not what's going on here. People who take pride in their country do so because they share the same mentality as this guy who takes pride in being straight - they had nothing to do with it, but have the privilege of being lucky. Country pride can be a touchy subject as well. Really, this whole "but where's my straight pride" nonsense stems from people not knowing words have multiple meanings. Gay pride is about no longer feeling ashamed and overcoming adversity. It's about marginalized people banding together over common experiences and expressing themselves.
