To be honest if it convinces even one staunch conservative to lighten their opinions on the lgbt I feel it was worth him saying. Im sure that wasnt his intention. More likely hoping to bolster votes for him but still. There will always be hate but there are also those who are complete sheep and so maybe just maybe some kid wont have it as hard when/if he/she comes out to their parents.
