I am sure there are plenty of good country bands out there. Writing off an entire genre or time period of a genre is shortsighted and just reveals you don't know a lot about whatever genre or time period you're talking about. Radio country has been bad for longer than a lot of people on this site have been alive though so I guess I can't really decry people for not being it more willing to give it a chance.

I enjoy alt country thats being made today.

I worked in a country radio station for a decade and it was an independent station with a huge rotation so we played some good old and some good outside the box shit but I am not in the least exaggerating when I say 99.9% of pop country is utter shit. Its watered down adult contemporary shit with dumb as shit universally recycled formulaic lyrics and little instrumental variety and thats a kind description.

Country has become so formulaic. It's almost comical.
I will go to a show if it's in town, but that's because it's a fun time with friends.
But it's become a product.

Blue Grass and Folk is where it's at.
But as Bob Dylan once said, that's just Hillbilly music.
