Some people really are forgetful but do want to improve.
Like if you say "I'm sorry I've been forgetful/inconsiderate/etc., but I'm doing my best to work on that," that's very different from saying "lol that's just how I am, deal with it."
I'm a firm believer that if someone has a genuine desire to make up for mistakes made in the past, they should have a chance to do so. I think in relationships, romantic or platonic, it's absolutely crucial that people try to work things out, provided the person at fault is interested in doing that, before cutting ties.
Agreed. But if you give someone a chance (or ten) to improve and they dont, its rather unfortunate. ---
