I don't disagree with that, but at the same time Iran does not have a plethora of experience in waging unconventional warfare like the Taliban or Al-Qaeda did. Further, Iran is more developed infrastructurally which would make the occupation an easier task logistically, and Iranians would probably be more accepting of the type of secular democratic government the U.S. would probably try to implement compared to Afghanistan or Iraq. At the end of the day it is unknown how it would play out, and I hope it stays that way. --- It feels like they're pretending.
