I'll trim every two weeks or so. But I shave the balls every two or three days, when I shave my face. The softer skin makes a difference as well. The prickly hairs aren't growing out of a firm, flat surface. It's soft and pliable. Leaving 1/4 inch above keeps them from being prickly.
