#260:

I love this show, but man I cannot defend the writing anymore. Not since the 3rd episode of this season to be honest, but I still had hope they could turn things around before the end.

Tyrion and Jaime have just made too many fatally dumb decisions. Jon and Grey Worm are ridiculously loyal to someone who was clearly showing signs of being out of her mind (before she massacred a city of innocents and proved it), and nearly everyone was acting completely out of character.

About the only ones who have stayed true to themselves and the character they were at the beginning of the story are Sandor Clegane and Varys. I guess that's why they had to die: because they don't change dramatically enough like everyone else around them to warrant an evolution to their arcs. Although I do actually like the way Sandor's arc ended with Arya, what came after kind of cheapened it. I'm mad I was ever hyped for Clegane Bowl dammit.

Also I hate that the Previously on Game of Thrones spoiled the heelturn before it could even come to fruition (though let's be honest I along with many others had already guessed Mad Queen Daenerys) like it needed to be spoonfed to a bunch of brain dead animals. Speaking of brain dead animals, gotta love how half of Cersei's entire army sat there as Drogon solo'd King's landing. No seriously. 25% attempted to fight back. 25% attempted to flee. All the rest just kind of sat there in awe like they had never seen a fucking dragon as it burned their dragon-busting weapons and comrades alive. Wow!
