What's the most useful fighting discipline for real world? Boxing? Judo? Karate? >_>

boxing with some knowledge of take down prevention, in a fight you do not want to go to the ground and its best to avoid it. and being real here, most martial arts are useless because there is always intervention and/or somebody whipping a weapon out and bashing you over the back with a chair. you can be the best bjj, boxing, krav maga user and get whacked in the temple or ear and lose your balance.

what people online in these debates often fail to understand about traditional martial arts, is take for example karate. You will very often be working out in a horse stance, however you do not actually fight in a horse stance. In essence you don't exactly fight how you train. It's not a 1 to 1 translation. You practice off of right punches a lot because that is just a means to learn and retain information.

You have to learn how to apply what you learned into a real situation. Sparring helps with that and shadow boxing and other various things which you should practice in a good karate school that is worth anything.

But online people see 17 combination for example, and say LOLOL "compliant opponent, try and do that on a real opponent". Well like no shit you practice on a compliant opponent. and no shit you probably aren't going to do the full combination verbatim against a live opponent, that was never the point.

The best martial art to use depends on the user. there is no one size fits all gloves. BJJ for example is great at going to the ground, but not that great else where and 2 vs 1(which is hard as fuck to begin with) BJJ is going to be pointless or on hard concrete ground grappling might not be too wise.
