Emma Fridels research has uncovered that school shootings have been declining since the 1990s.

Despite Heightened Fear Of School Shootings, It's Not A Growing Epidemic

The way they define school shootings is a little flimsy. They're studying "multiple victim shootings" which they define as 4 or more victims and at least 2 deaths by firearms, excluding the assailant. So by that standard the Colorado shooting wasn't actually a school shooting. Which I would hope you disagree with.

The other thing is that school shootings weren't really a thing before the '90's. After an explosion (a rapid expnasion), of course all the measurable statistics appear to go down. But the fact that the measurable statistic - the rapid expansion of school shootings - even exists, is itself a problem.
