Today was a brutal day for me, lol. Complete power outage at our corporate office.

*On vacation*
- Power went out just before 1AM
- I see email alerts about our UPS batteries going on battery power
- I call my boss, he says it normally comes back in a few minutes
- It doesn't come back after 10 minutes

Me: Well... I'm not gonna get any sleep with all this going on. Might as well go in and see what's happening

*I drive to the office*
*Traffic light completely off*
*Dark AF at the corporate office*

Me: Huh... must be a city thing

*I call Austin Energy*

Me: Hey, it looks like we're experiencing a power outage.
Austin Energy: I'm not seeing an outage in your area. Have you tried flipping your circuit breaker?
Me: ... I can probably call building management to try that, but I don't think that's going to turn the traffic and street lights back on.
Austin Energy: OK, we can open a ticket to get someone sent out.

Turns out 2600+ people are without power in the area.

So now I'm just sitting at the office waiting for them to get the power fixed.

Austin Energy: We currently show an estimated restoration time of 2:22am.
Me: OK cool.

*2:22am comes and goes*
*Our backup batteries die. EVERYTHING IS DOWN.*

Austin Energy: We now show an estimated restoration time of 3:22am.
Me: OK cool.
*3:22am comes and goes*

Austin Energy: We don't have any more updates

They finally get the power turned back on at 6am.

I now have to get the network working again so that people can work. Took me and the systems admin about 4.5 hours to get everything up and running again.
