Presumably they would have searched the vehicle when it was seized, since evidence is pretty important for trials and also they don't want the liability of selling drugs to people A few years ago there was someone, maybe a teenager, who bought a car at a police auction. Turns out there was cocaine stashed inside from the drug bust the cops never found. He got pulled over, car searched, and arrested.
