Topic	My wife OB drug tested my wife during the initial lab work. Is this normal?
NeuralLaxative 12/25/18 12:43:45 PM #23:	The purpose of drug testing is for the safety of the baby, to warn parents of potential teratogenic/ birth defects from drug use, for the OB team caring for the mother, and so that the baby can be appropriately triaged after birth if concerns will be present for withdrawal, etc. Regardless reporting results of the UDS to the police is a clear violation of HIPAA.
